First, it's OK if you have firearms and don't know anything about them. We're here to help, so don't be shy and don't worry, you are not alone. Of course if you have a spreadsheet the lists the assets (firearm type, model, caliber/gauge, serial number) that's wonderful and can save a lot of time. It is also important to let us know if you're selling as an individual or if you are a representative of a trust or estate.
We specialize in collections and collectibles, but yes, we can also help you sell everything from one firearm to dozens or hundreds.
The majority of our firearms are sold through Gunbroker.com. We chose Gunbroker because of its safe and secure reputation, bookkeeping trail, and to reach a wide and active audience. Monthly, J Gray’s is among the top 100 sellers on the platform.
It's all about the paperwork at J Gray's. We keep it simple for the client. The process starts with a detailed appraisal report with an estimated total value. Next, we complete a consignment agreement that outlines the services provided, fees, repairs and expenses, the duration of the agreement, and sales and payment details. Monthly status reports are sent to consignees with each item meticulously tracked with listing price, date sold, price, date of payment, related expenses, and net commission due. Proofs of sale are provided by Gunbroker.com or J Gray's.
The consignment fee for JGray's is 20% of the firearm(s) 'selling price. The selling price is the final sale price before any deductions for commissions, repairs, related expenses, and taxes. Additionally, if the selling prices is less than $225.00 per firearm, a flat fee of $45 per firearm sold will be charged instead. Gunbroker.com listing fees are automatically deducted from the selling price. Expense fees for additional services such as on-site appraisal, transport or repairs may be negotiated at the time a consignment agreement is arranged.
Yes. Under our Federal Firearms License, we can transfer firearms to recipients who meet ATF requirements if they pick them up at our location. Transfers to heirs or beneficiaries in other cities or out-of-state are sent to an FFL dealer nearest to them.
It is always safest to transfer a firearm from an FFL holder to another FFL holder, where the recipient can pick up the firearm.
